چکیده

Gastric cancer is the most common cancer in Asia and most developing countries. Despite the use of multimodality therapeutics, it remains the second leading cause of cancer death in the world. To identify the molecular underpinnings of gastric cancer in the Asian population, we applied an RNA-sequencing approach to gastric tumor and noncancerous specimens, generating 680 million informative short reads to quantitatively characterize the entire transcriptome of gastric cancer (includingmRNAs andmiRNAs). Amultilayer analysis was then developed to identify multiple types of transcriptional aberrations associated with different stages of gastric cancer, including differentially expressed mRNAs, recurrent somatic mutations, and key differentially expressed miRNAs. Through this approach, we identified the central metabolic regulator AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)a as a potential functional target in Asian gastric cancer. Furthermore, we experimentally showed the translational relevance of this gene as a potential therapeutic target for early-stage gastric cancer in Asian patients. Together, our findings not only provide a valuable information resource for identifying and elucidating themolecular mechanisms of Asian gastric cancer, but also represent a general integrative framework to develop more effective therapeutic targets. راهکارهای تغذیه ایی موثر بر پیشگیری از بروز سرطان معده

Introduction: Gastric cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide and is yet increasing in Asian countries such as Iran. Despite using chemotherapy for the treatment, its 5-year survival is only about 20%. Thus, the complementary therapy and prevention are the main efforts for its control. In this review article, we attempt to describe the eefective strategies for p...

TLR2 and TLR4 Signaling Pathways and Gastric Cancer: Insights from Transcriptomics and Sample Validation

Background: Pattern recognition receptors, especially toll-like receptors (TLRs), as the first line of defense for pathogen detection, were found to be associated with H. pylori infection and gastric cancer (GC). However, the expression levels of TLRs, i.e. TLR2 and TLR4, as the main receptors sensed by H. pylori, still remain largely ambiguous. We aimed to investigate the patterns of key tra...

Association between two functional polymorphisms in the MMP-2 promoter and lung cancer incidence in Asian population: a meta-analysis study

Background: Numerous experiments have been performed to determine the relationship between the Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) -1306C/T and -735C/T polymorphisms and the prevalence and progression of lung cancer in diverse populations. However, due to the small sample size and the different results of previous studies, we decided to perform a general meta-analysis on all previous studies abo...

MiR-493 suppresses the proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells by targeting RhoC

Objective(s):MiRNAs have been proposed to be key regulators of tumorigenesis, progression and metastasis. However, their effect and prognostic value in gastric cancer is still poorly known. Materials and Methods: Gastric cancer cell lines were cultured. Tissue samples obtained from 36 gastric cancer patients were used for quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis. The tissue microarrays (T...
